MicroSteed is a computer-based ration management system that allows the Equine Specialists at Feed Mill Express and their approved Assurance™ dealers to produce nutritionally balanced and optimum performance equine diets.

This interactive program allows the user to select requirements developed by the National Research Council or those developed by Kentucky Equine Research. Those requirements are compared to ration information the user enters into the program to determine if a horse is receiving optimum nutrition. Diets are based on the “lifestyle of the horse.”

MicroSteed evaluates up to 15 different feed ingredients before balancing 17 nutrients essential to good health, peak performance, growth and reproduction. For example, you can look at the nutrients provided by the hay being fed; and, then add the nutrients missing for optimum nutrition. It may be as simple as adding a vitamin/mineral supplement.

The program provides book values for forage and grain, and can be fine-tuned to individual applications through laboratory analysis of hay and other feedstuffs.

Diet recommendations can be presented in four formats, including the easy-to-read bar graph.
